Hytech Engines built RB26 in Performance Car feature car!

Performance Car #158 February 2010

Hytech Engines builds an RB26 engine that produces 534kw at the wheels in a Nissan R34 GTR! The magazine spills the beans about our new 10 second Mitsi Evo and coverage of our cars at Import All-Stars and Night Speed Drag Wars. Buy the latest issue and enjoy :)

Last 4G63 for 2009

This Evo I-III 4G63 engine was built for another tuning shop in Auckland. Fully balanced with forged internals and a very nice aftermarket crankshaft. Should make really nice power. It's the last 4G63 engine built for 2009 and it's been collected by the customer who is happy he got it before xmas. No more engines in our workshop, a great way to be before xmas.

Engine refresh

Customer only wanted the bottom end of his RB26 refreshed as he was selling his car. We stripped and cleaned the bottom end, polished the crankshaft journals, painted the block and fitted new rings and bearings. All back together and delivered to another workshop who will put it back in the GTR. There are now no more RB26 engines in our workshop, just how we like it before xmas.

Completed Work.

RB26 forged short block. Customer already had a set of used forged pistons that he wanted to use. They were ok so we used them after giving them a good clean.

Boss wins 2009 Night Speed Drag Wars Series!

The 3rd and final round of the series saw a big turn out of competitors with several quick cars putting on a show. The boss didn't win his class on the night but didn't well enough to collect enough points to take out the Turbo 4WD class for the season. He received a trophy, prize money and a season pass to Fram Autolight Dragway. Well Done !!!

Hytech Evo finishes 3rd in class at Import Allstars 2009

The day was long and very hot. We had a few little issues throughout the day which meant the car wasn't performing as it should. We managed to achieve a new personal best time in the car with a 10.65 at 215kph. This in only 0.13 seconds quicker in ET, but the top speed is up 21kph! This means there are lower ET's to be had in the car. The car ran the new PB time sticking with the 20psi boost pressure. In the semi-final of the Pro Import class we decided to up the boost pressure to 25psi because we were up against a very quick (and eventual class winner) mitsi evo powered mirage. This turned out to be something the drivetrain didn't agree with, resulting in the evo breaking a front axle when launching off the line.

Forged Evo 5 Engine completed and ready

Fully forged internals, Jun cams, HKS Timing belt, Tomei head gasket, HKS cam gears and a race prepped cylinder head from Kelford Cams. This made it easy for us as we didn't have to port and polish the head or fit aftermarket valve springs, retainers, guides and valves ourselves.

Hytech Engines represents at Round 2 of Night Speed Drag Wars!

Dick Richardson (The Boss) won the Turbo 4WD class with a best ET of 11.15 during the night in his R32 GTR. The car had a small problem with the Line lock switch not working which meant he couldn't warm up the slick tyres before racing. This made the tyres slippery. Maybe it was a good thing because if the car went quicker than 11.00 he would be disqualified for going to fast for the race bracket.

It was also a great night for the Hytech GSR/EVO. The car was kicked out of the Turbo 4WD class for being too fast and was not allowed to compete in the points series. This resulted in a series of exhibition passes throughout the night. David Kemble piloted the car to a series of 10 second passes, the best of the night a 10.7 ET. The car should run around 10.5 on it's current boost setting of 20psi and 21psi tyre pressure. Their is still more left in the car and more boost to run :) Thank you to our sponsors INTERCLEAN for the race fuel for the night and KASPA TRANSMISSION (Otahuhu) for making sure the diffs, standard gearbox and clutch were in good shape for the night.

Below are 2 video clips from the nights racing. See our Facebook page for better quality videos.

Hytech R32 GTR finishes 2nd at Night Speed Drag Wars

A pitcure of our GTR launching off the line at Fram Autolite Dragway, Meremere.

The first practise run of the night saw the power steering belt flip 180 degrees on the pulleys, shredding it in the process. The car suffered from worse than usual torque steer off the line, meaning we had to back off the throttle to straighten the car before flooring it again. Other than that the car ran fine on the night only running 20psi on pump gas. We managed to finish 2nd in C1 Class (Turbo 4WD). The car now has a new power steering belt and we should be at the next round in 2 weeks.

Turbo Honda build gets under way

The B20B block has been grout filled and the top of the block bridged to create strength. This is a cheaper option than fitting the Darton liners we normally use with these types of builds. This build will be documented in our "Current Projects" Page of our website.

New RB30 build starts

The boss working on a R34 GTR cylinder head. He's in the process of heating up the head to remove the standard valve guides, so he can install some of Hytech Engines own Beryllium Copper Valve Guides which are much stronger and more reliable than the standard guides. To see the build process of this RB30 build check out our "Current Projects" page and click on NISSAN RB30DET BUILD link. This will be updated as we go.

4G63 head gets O-Ringed.

We had just ported the head and fitted 272 degree cams, heavy duty valve springs and titanium retainers to this customers Mitsi Evo 4G63 cylinder head when he asked us to O-Ring the head. This is done to create a better seal between the gasket and the head. It increases clamping force on the gasket.

Supercharged V8 Holden engine build finished.

This week we finally finished building this Supercharged V8 Holden motor. It's all ready for the Supercharger to be mounted.
